Eight farmers from the eight cane farming districts around the country will be selected to form the board of the newly established - Council of Sugar Cane Growers.

The Council of Sugar Cane Growers will replace the now dissolved Sugar Cane Growers Council.

The selection criteria requires the eight farmers to produce more than 200 tons of cane annually, converse well in English, not to be politically active and prepared to serve the sugar industry with commitment and dedication.

Farmers from the eight districts of Seaqaqa, Labasa, Rakiraki, Tavua, Ba, Lautoka, Nadi and Sigatoka will be eligible for selection.
